Everyone is starting a podcast, but here we are, starting a blog. Behind the curve, I suppose, but we kinda like it that way.
There's a bigger reason behind the timing of this post, though. In early 2023, we began recording a handful of songs for our upcoming EP, “The Weather.” It has been the best kind of hard work - full of writing, editing, arranging and then rearranging, calling up talented friends to join the project, and figuring out how and when to present it all to you, the good folks following along on the Charlie Maples journey.
Speaking of calling up talented friends, we had the joy and privilege of collaborating with Zac Wilson on a music video for our first single, “Fourth Wall." Everything was filmed in the office building of our bassist, Taylor. It was like walking around in a midcentury time capsule. We donned some wigs and thrifted outfits, attempted staring contests with one another, and and ignored a gelatin mold dessert. I guess you'll have to watch the video to even begin to try and make sense of how those things might be connected. It was a real hoot to create and we can't wait it show it to you this week.
We get that it can be a bit of an eye-roller to say these things, but the whole “like/subscribe/save/share” actually helps you to connect with us and also spread word to your friends and family if you think they might like what we're creating. We'd be so honored if you'd help us spread word!
